Getting started

Julia Konieczny, a native of Kempten, showed her passion for painting as a child by using every ballpoint pen to the end - much to her father's chagrin. After a short phase of acrylic painting and an exhibition in 2007, she remembered her love of drawing with ballpoint pens and felt-tip pens.

During this time, she created a series of small-format works in which she used old sheet music, advertisements and magazines as a background for her drawings. She used ballpoint pens, permanent markers, gold, silver and felt-tip pens to create unique motifs. The name "Jodlerhut & Kimono" became the symbol of her work and embodies the fusion of Japanese simplicity with the Alpine memories of her Allgäu homeland - an exciting mix of urban and rural elements.

Her works have been exhibited in Munich and several times at the "Kulturspektakel Gauting". In 2020, she began to transfer her art to digital formats, staying true to her intuitive and dreamlike style. In 2022, she was discovered by "Cockroach Magazine" on Instagram, her works were published in the magazine and she took part in the associated art festival in Durach.
